DETROIT, MI — Detroit’s extraordinary contribution to American music will take center stage this fall as the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame presents its 15th Annual Induction Ceremony, honoring a distinguished group of Detroit legends whose contributions have helped shape the sound, culture and history of rhythm and blues.

Presented by Huntington Bank, the celebration will take place Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Bert’s Warehouse Theater, 2727 Russell Street in Detroit. The evening will combine music, history, recognition and celebration as the National R&B Hall of Fame pays tribute to individuals and institutions whose legacies remain an important part of Detroit’s cultural story.

This year’s Detroit honorees include Ernie Durham, Ollie McLaughlin, Erma Franklin, Joe Von Battle, WGPR-TV & Radio’s “The Scene,” Rudy Robinson and Rev. C.L. Franklin.

The ceremony brings together an impressive cross-section of Detroit history. From legendary broadcasters and record-industry pioneers to celebrated performers, influential religious figures and groundbreaking Black media, the honorees represent the many forces that helped Detroit become one of the most important music cities in the world.

The event will begin with dinner and the induction ceremony from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., followed by the 20 Grand Dance beginning at 9:00 p.m. and continuing into the evening. David Washington will serve as Master of Ceremony.

The 15th Annual Induction Ceremony is more than an awards presentation—it is an opportunity to preserve history and recognize the people and institutions that created pathways for generations of artists, entertainers, broadcasters and music professionals who followed.

Detroit’s influence on R&B reaches far beyond the city limits. Its singers, musicians, producers, radio personalities, entrepreneurs, churches, nightclubs and recording pioneers helped create a musical foundation that continues to influence contemporary R&B, soul, gospel and popular music around the world.

With its fitting motto, “Where Legends Live,” the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame continues its mission of ensuring that the achievements of R&B pioneers are remembered, celebrated and passed on to future generations.
